Lea Michele scored a “huge” L’Oreal beauty contract: is she worth it?

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I think Lea Michele is a very pretty young woman. She has lovely skin, a pretty face and gorgeous eyes. My problem with Lea is two-fold: one, her styling almost always sucks; and two, her attitude (more often than not) sucks as well. These are photos of Lea from last week’s Glee premiere event. Has Lea done herself any favors by allowing herself to be styled this way? Look at those awful highlights/ombre hair crap. Look at her too-heavy eye-makeup, which looks caked on.

So, where am I going with this? Lea has been made the newest face of L’Oreal, joining other spokemodels like Eva Longoria, Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce. This is a big deal, and a huge, career-changing contract for Lea. But does she deserve it?

Lea Michele has landed a huge beauty contract with L’Oréal, Page Six has exclusively learned. The “Glee” star will be unveiled later this month as the face of the French cosmetics giant, following Eva Longoria, Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez.

Michele has talked openly about her beauty, telling Allure, “When I was 15 . . . a manager said, ‘You have to get a nose job in order for me to work with you.’ My mother would say to me, ‘Barbra Streisand never got a nose job. You’re not getting a nose job.’ ”

What’s good about this: it’s great that L’Oreal went with a Jewish woman. I’m sorry for saying that so bluntly, but I couldn’t figure out a way to talk around it. From what I can see, Jewish women don’t get many beauty contracts, and I like that L’Oreal is committed to representing and appealing to women of diverse ethnicities and races, as opposed to just making an endless stream of WASPy blonde models and starlets their representatives to the world.

What’s bad about this: Lea is going to be even more insufferable now. But I really, really hope that someone at L’Oreal makes her get rid of those bangs, and makes her fix that terrible dye job. Here’s hoping!
