Kelis Rogers is an American singer, songwriter and chef (born August 21, 1979). When she was 14, Kelis was accepted to the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York, where she learnt to play the saxophone and gained a spot in Harlem's Girls Choir. After graduating from high school in 1997, Kelis took on a number of jobs before securing a vocal backup slot on a single called "Fairytalez" released by the American hip hop group Gravediggaz.
