The holiday season just finished but it wasn’t merry for everyone, especially for Gone Girl star Rosamund Pike, who ‘smashed’ her face in an accident right after Christmas.
Hollywood icon Rosamund Pike appeared at the 81st Golde Globes with a lacy head veil that covered her face and a black tea-length Dior dress on January 7. The movie star joked about her dress having a ‘weird funeral vibe.’ However, the accessory choice for the ceremony was more of a practical choice as she talked about her recent injury in an interview.
Rosamund Pike opts for protective headgear after skiing accident
Pike’s holiday season didn’t go too well. The 44-year-old celebrity used her Golden Globes red carpet interview to talk about an incident that caused her face to be ‘smashed.’
“I had an accident over Christmas. I had a skiing accident. And I had to think, that’s not what you want knowing you’re coming to the Golden Globes on the seventh of January,” she revealed, adding that her face was “entirely smashed up.”
Explaining her choice of headgear, Pike said, “I thought I needed to do something. It’s a protective veil for the occasion.”
While Rosamund appeared without any visible bruises and had seemingly healed from the injury, the actress explained that the veil was still suitable to wear right after the sudden accident.
Channeling the Lady Elspeth Catton aesthetic
Trust Pike to channel the most cold-blooded characters to perfection. After Gone Girl, the actress is back with another iconic role, playing Lady Elspeth Catton in Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn – an aristocrat who is out of touch with reality.
As Pike said on the red carpet, “You have to channel it, don’t you? Either a weird sort of funeral vibe or maybe she wore black for her wedding.”
