She is also known as the widow of entrepreneur Helmet Horten. She was known to inherit her husband who was known to be the founder of a German department store business known as Horten AG.
She was known to divide her time between Vienna, Austria and Ticino, Switzerland, when in Europe. She was as well known to be the owner of Carinthia VII, a 315-foot yacht.
She readily had a thing for hunting and art collection which she enjoyed so much.
In her art collection endeavour, she was able to amass quite a quantity of about 500 works which included paintings by Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Jean Michael Basquiat and so on.
In the year 2018, her number of works which totalled 170 from the Heidi Horten collection was exhibited at Leopold Museum in Vienna. She planned to open a square-foot mansion this year before her death.
